Fill Issues Rendering Loading Drawing If a Vector shape won't fill: Vector Fill Checklist +— Check the Fill Tool's settings: Are you using the fill type correctly? Normal: click in a closed shape to fill Rectangular: click and drag around closed shapes to fill Freehand: draw around closed shapes to fill Polyline: left-click at multiple points around closed shapes until the polyline forms a closed shape to fill Are you using the correct mode? Lines will only fill lines Areas will only fill areas Lines and Areas fills both Is "Frame Range" checked? With "Frame Range" enabled, you need to use the fill tool on a minimum of 2 separate drawings/frames Is a color selected (other than the transparent background style)? Is a stroke style selected? Under the Vector tab, generated brushes with a curved, diagonal icon like the following are only for brush strokes Under the Vector tab, trail styles are only for brush strokes Under the Vector tab, vector brushes are only for brush strokes Is a raster brush selected? Raster styles will not be visible on a Vector level. Is the fill color opaque? In the style editor, check the alpha value (A) 0 = completely transparent 255 = completely opaque Is the shape closed? Making Vector Shapes Fillable +— Increase the gap distance value for the Fill tool Enable fill/gap checks: Gap Check shows gaps between vector endpoints View → Gap Check The gap distance is set in the "Tape" tool (T) Fill Check displays all fillable spaces as grey View → Fill Check Always turn off the checks in the view menu after removing the gaps Use the control point editor (C): Click and drag on the control points (the white/blue squares) to reposition Click and drag on the handles (purple squares) to adjust the curve of the line Use the Tape tool (T): Set the type to "Normal" Join vectors should be checked Change the mode depending on what type of gap you are changing: Endpoint to endpoint Endpoint to line Line to line Convert to Simplified Vectors: Simplified vectors normally resolve stubborn fill issues with closed shapes. This is often incompatible with automated animation features with the Inbetweener. In the top menu go to: Level → Optimize → "Simplify Vectors" As a last resort, delete the shape and draw again with either "auto-close" or "auto-fill" turned in in the brush's tool options If a Smart raster fill spreads across the wrong area: Make sure the shape you want to fill (or not fill) is a closed shape Fill any gaps with the Brush or Paint Brush Tools If a Raster shape won't fill: Check the brush style. Some styles cannot be used as fills. No video options in Output Settings (or nothing happens on render) +— In order to render video, an add-on called FFmpeg is needed. FFmpeg should be included by default. If for some reason, FFmpeg is missing or incorrectly linked, it will be impossible to load or render gifs/video. Add FFmpeg to the computer in order to export video: Download FFmpeg from ffmpeg.org In the top menu of Tahoma2D, go to Tahoma2D → Preferences Under "Import/Export" set FFmpeg path (to enable video import and export) download FFmpeg and move to "Documents" under Import/Export, click on the ... next to "FFmpeg path" use the "File Browser" to find the correct folder change FFmpeg Timeout to at least 600 Close and reopen Tahoma2D Rendered video will not open (or displays as black) +— Delete the rendered video Increase the ffmpeg timeout In the program menu, go to Tahoma2D → Preference Select Import/Export Increase the value next to Ffmpeg timeout (I find 600 is a good place to start) Rendered video or image(s) missing +— If you did not set a specific output location (and did not use "Fast Render to Mp4"), the file(s) should be located in the project's output folder If you your project folder in located in Documents: Documents/Tahoma2D/project_name/outputs If you used "Fast Render to MP4", your file should be located on the desktop Columns/Layers missing from render +— Make sure render visibility is toggled on for the level and not off If using FX, make sure the level is connected to the X-sheet in the FX Schematic Image Sequence loads as multiple levels +— If an image sequence is not named correctly, it will not load as a single level. Accepted name formats are as follows: name_number.filetype name_0001.png name.number.filetype name.0001.jpg Sequences currently cannot start at 0 To rename an image sequence into an accepted format, follow the directions here under the "File Names" tab. Animated Gifs do not load completely +— Animated gif's rely on part of the FFmpeg package (called FFprobe).
